the reclamation project [ @ 916 ]

a youth-run grassroots social justice organization delivering mutual aid, liberating anti-oppression education, healing justice, and solidarity to marginalized communities and youth—founded in Sacramento, serving California and a growing national beyond.

Building tomorrow, beginning today.

The Reclamation Project is a youth-run, grassroots social justice organization delivering liberating education, equitable resource development, community-based wellness, and solidarity to historically-marginalized and under-served communities and youth throughout California and beyond, battling systems of trauma, violence, and poverty.

Established originally in late 2020 as “The Reclamation Project @ 916” in Sacramento County, The Reclamation Project today continues to center student advocacy, with a dedicated youth leadership team building long-lasting mutual aid initiatives, political education, community healing and empowerment programs, activist convenings, youth leadership/change-making/power-building investment, and more. We ignite youth-led solutions against societal disparities particularly harming young people of color from low-income communities, challenging carceral power structures, unequal distribution of resources, and cycles of systemic violence, trauma, and the silencing of marginalized youth throughout California and nationwide.

With a grassroots team comprised entirely of youth organizers, The Reclamation Project centers community problem-solving and direct-action in addressing disproportionate gaps faced by BIPOC, immigrant/refugee, LGBTQ+, and all marginalized peoples in health and wellness, justice, public policy and education, and socioeconomic development.

An award-winning organization recognized the national and international levels, The Reclamation Project has mobilized 65,000+ community members across California in social justice movements, advised and accelerated nearly $20 million in government and community partnerships redistributing wealth into restorative youth programs, and successfully raised and reinvested $150,000+ into youth anti-oppression efforts in culturally-responsive healing and educational equity, youth mentorship, community organizing, scholarships, activist media, cultural access and expression, political education, and civic engagement and advocacy campaigns.

Today, The Reclamation Project leads 250+ volunteers and organizers based in Sacramento County and a coalition of 1,000+ programming supporters and 150+ youth-serving social justice organizations, professionals, and public officials across California.

The Reclamation Project continues to statewide and nationwide spearhead programs that transforms systems-impacted youth into proactive agents of transformation. Within the next 2 years, The Reclamation Project will expand into further community-based branches, our impact spanning from Sacramento, to the Bay Area, to Southern California, and more.

Battling systems of trauma, violence, and poverty, The Reclamation Project spearheads direct organizing with historically and politically-marginalized communities, coalition and movement building around CA youth-impacting policy, free and accessible socio-political education, community empowerment programs, and region-wide resource distribution.
